A race of attrition

An unfortunate end for Bubi after losing his keel and capsizing on the homeward stretch of the Vendeé Globe race. He was quickly rescued as well as the boat. We will know more of the cause after all survey work is complete in Palma.

November 2012 - Vendeé Globe start
It was 4 years since our last trip to LSD to see the start of arguably the toughest race of any kind in the world. It was great to see all our design details of Acciona 100% Eco-powered and how they compared to the French IMOCA 60s. Even more impressive is the countless hours of the all the shore teams to get the boats to the startline. We wish Bubi fair winds.

For design studios there always seams to be an inverse relationship with the amount of web page updates and the amount of actual work they have at the time. Hence our last 12 months of web inactivity!

A chance to join friends from the MOD70 Veolia team on a training day. Although Tim didn't get to pull any strings, the grin bar -or rather the big grin bear-away @ 30knts in flat water were satisfying enough.

July 2011 - Out of the bag
A project that has been consuming us and everyone else involved rolls out of the shed this month before being loaded on a ship and officially launched in Barcelona this October. We spent the month of May in the yard for the detail design and cabin.
July 2011 - L'hydroptere

Tim catches up with some old friends and joins them on a little delivery of l'hydroptere from Barcelona to Toulon. Just rattling along at half the record speed of 58knots was gratifying enough...


We also worked with l'hydroptere to build replacement protection foils for the huge gas-powered rams that keep the beast flying...

The adventure of Adventuress has begun -after our trip to the Solent to find copies of the original Fife plans we will continue to act as a client liaison for the immaculate refit of this Fife Classic in Maine. After which she will be based in Palma.
