Naval Architecture

Naval Architecture is much more than just the 'making it float' part of the yacht design process. There is an enormous amount of time spent refining the hull lines for improved performance and efficiency, placement of foils and rig balance. We have also provided Naval Architecture calculations for designs from other projects. This includes modeling of the vessel, complete Hydrostatic calculations, weight calculation, flotation planes etc.

We complete all our structural engineering in-house for all small to medium sized projects. This allows us to develop innovative solutions that integrate seamlessly with our hull and deck designs and not rely on expensive 3rd party engineering companies..

Concept design for us is perhaps the most exciting part of the design process. We thrive with the possibilities a design brief offers and enjoy pushing how radical we can go. Although as we have a strong engineering base, we always keep things feasible to build and manage.

Exterior Design and Styling

As part of developing the yachts exterior character, we make a special effort to style the yacht in accordance with its function. We have our own unique 'Delta' style, but we adapt to be sympathetic with the yachts intended use.
Much more than just the 'making it look good' part of the the yacht design process, yacht styling has become an industry within itself. We tread carefully around trends as "he who marries to trends will soon find themselves to be a widow"...

Eco and Sustainable Design

We want to do more than just perpetuate the 'green washing' of the marine industry. Basically, when we meet the right client we will design and build for them a 100% organic boat form renewable materials. We need to do more material and hull-sample testing with various 'eco' materials and organic Bio-resins and continue to create strong relationships with suppliers. We have studied eco-design at a tertiary level and look to apply it wherever possible.
Some of our recent projects have featured 100% renewable energy systems, but we still have a while to go before the material backpack of a yacht build is something to be also proud of.
Bionicboats™ is a side project that is lurking and ready to pounce when we think the market is ready and has reached a tipping-point of understanding of the importance to evolve into the 'Blue Economy'. The graphic below was produced by Lunar Design.

We have extensive experience in Sea-trials from being involved in commissioning of various high-profile yachts. From the first tentative moments of lowering the boat into the water to the excitement of raising the mainsail for the first time and feeling the boat power up.
